On Wednesday, September 18, Reuters reported, citing diplomatic sources, that the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency has referred Iran's case to the United Nations Security Council due to violations of nuclear non-proliferation commitments, after 20 years.
This new resolution follows the previous resolution of the Board of Governors issued on June 12 of last year; a list of instances of Iran's "non-compliance" with its commitments, which was approved just one day before the start of Israeli airstrikes and subsequently the United States' attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities.
According to legal rules and requirements, the official report of these violations to the UN Security Council required the approval of a second resolution by this 35-member council, which has now been achieved. This action could pave the way for the reinstatement of international sanctions and increased diplomatic pressure on Tehran.

رویترز روز چهارشنبه ۱۸ شهریور به نقل از منابع دیپلماتیک گزارش داد که شورای حکام آژانس بینالمللی انرژی اتمی با صدور قطعنامهای، پرونده ایران را به دلیل نقض تعهدات منع اشاعه هستهای، پس از ۲۰ سال به شورای امنیت سازمان ملل متحد ارجاع داده است.
این قطعنامه جدید در پی قطعنامه پیشین شورای حکام در ۱۲ ژوئن سال گذشته صادر شد؛ فهرستی از موارد «پایبند نبودن» ایران به تعهداتش که درست یک روز پیش از آغاز حملات هوایی اسرائیل و متعاقبا ایالات متحده به تاسیسات هستهای ایران تصویب شده بود.
بر اساس قوانین و الزامات حقوقی، گزارش رسمی این نقض تعهدات به شورای امنیت سازمان ملل، مستلزم تصویب دومین قطعنامه از سوی این شورای ۳۵ عضوی بود که اکنون به سرانجام رسیده است. این اقدام میتواند مسیر را برای بازگشت تحریمهای بینالمللی و افزایش فشارهای دیپلماتیک بر تهران هموارتر کند.
