Reuters reported that Baghdad has ordered the closure of the Shalamcheh border crossing between Iraq and Iran.
Two Iraqi security sources told the news agency that Iraq closed this crossing as a precautionary measure following a drone attack from Iraq targeting the East-West oil pipeline in Saudi Arabia.
The Shalamcheh border crossing is one of the main land routes between Iran and Iraq.
According to reports, the drone that was fired at Saudi Arabia was launched from the Maysan province of Iraq. This province is located in the southeastern part of Iraq and borders Iran, with its administrative center being the city of Amarah.

وزارت انرژی عربستان سعودی روز جمعه ۲۰ شهریور با انتشار بیانیه‌ای اعلام کرد که خط لوله انتقال نفت «شرق-غرب» (واقع در مناطق ریاض و مدینه) صبح پنجشنبه هدف چندین حمله قرار گرفته است.
در این بیانیه آمده است که به دنبال این حملات، عملیات انتقال نفت در خط لوله مذکور به صورت احتیاطی متوقف شد.
این رویداد همچنین منجر به مصدومیت تعدادی از افراد شد که خدمات درمانی و مراقبت‌های پزشکی لازم به آن‌ها ارائه گردید.

دو منبع امنیتی عراقی به این خبرگزاری اعلام کردند که عراق این گذرگاه را به عنوان اقدامی احتیاطی و در پی حمله پهپادی از مبدأ عراق به خط لوله نفت شرق-غرب عربستان سعودی، بسته است.
گذرگاه مرزی شلمچه یکی از مسیرهای زمینی اصلی میان ایران و عراق است.
براساس گزارش‌ها پهپاد شلیک شده به عربستان از استان میسان عراق شلیک شده است. این استان در قسمت جنوب شرقی عراق و هم مرز با ایران است که مرکز اداری آن شهر عماره است.
