On Monday, September 23, a U.S. federal court ruled against the enforcement of Donald Trump's administration's order to limit the duration of stay for foreign students and journalists in the United States.

This order, which the judge stated was issued due to "very weak arguments" from the government, was set to be implemented by the Department of Homeland Security on Tuesday.

According to a law that the Trump administration is attempting to enforce, the visas for foreign students and those participating in cultural programs in the U.S. would be limited to four years.

This law also states that journalist visas should not exceed 240 days.

All three groups, under the law that the court has now blocked, would need to reapply and extend their visas for a longer stay.

According to the federal judge, the enforcement of the new law would significantly "limit the number of foreign students and journalists in the United States."

‌دادگاه فدرال آمریکا روز دوشنبه، ۲۳ شهریورماه، به عدم اجرای دستور دولت دونالد ترامپ برای محدود کردن مدت اقامت دانشجویان و خبرنگاران خارجی در ایالات متحده حکم داد.

‌این دستور که به گفته قاضی دادگاه به دلیل «استدلال‌های بسیار ضعیف» دولت صادر شده، قرار بود روز سه‌شنبه به دست وزارت امنیت داخلی آمریکا اجرا شود.

‌بر اساس قانونی که دولت ترامپ سعی دارد به اجرا بگذارد، روادید دانشجویان خارجی و روادید افرادی که با برنامه‌های فرهنگی در آمریکا اقامت می‌گیرند، به چهار سال محدود می‌شود.

‌این قانون همچنین می‌گوید که روادید خبرنگاران نیز نباید از ۲۴۰ روز فراتر رود.

‌هر سه گروه، بر اساس قانونی که اکنون دادگاه جلو اجرای آن را گرفته، برای اقامت بیشتر باید بار دیگر اقدام کرده و روادید خود را تمدید کنند.

‌به گفته قاضی دادگاه فدرال، اجرای قانون جدید تعداد دانشجویان خارجی و روزنامه‌نگاران و خبرنگاران در ایالات متحده را به شکل قابل توجهی «محدود خواهد کرد».
