The U.S. Treasury Secretary, in the annual meeting regarding the economic situation in America and the international financial system, defended the policies of Donald Trump's administration towards Iran, stating that the U.S. President has taken actions that, according to him, previous U.S. Presidents had refrained from for years.
Scott Basset, referring to the Islamic Republic, said: A regime that has dedicated itself to the slogan "Death to America" and is seeking to acquire nuclear weapons to achieve this goal is now facing a different policy from the U.S.
He added: Under President Trump's leadership, the U.S. is no longer just managing the threat from Iran; we are ending it.

وزیر خزانهداری ایالات متحده در جلسه سالانه درباره وضعیت اقتصادی آمریکا و سیستم مالی بینالمللی با دفاع از سیاستهای دولت دونالد ترامپ در قبال ایران، گفت رئیسجمهوری آمریکا اقدامی را انجام داده که به گفته او، رؤسایجمهور پیشین آمریکا سالها از انجام آن خودداری کرده بودند.
اسکات بسنت با اشاره به جمهوری اسلامی گفت: رژیمی که خود را وقف شعار "مرگ بر آمریکا" کرده و بهدنبال دستیابی به سلاح هستهای برای تحقق همین هدف است، اکنون با سیاستی متفاوت از سوی آمریکا روبهرو شده است.
او افزود: تحت رهبری رئیسجمهور ترامپ، آمریکا دیگر صرفا در حال مدیریت تهدید ایران نیست؛ ما در حال پایان دادن به آن هستیم.
