The coalition led by Saudi Arabia in Yemen announced that its air defense intercepted and destroyed a drone launched by the Houthis that aimed to enter the airspace of Mecca.
According to Reuters, Turki al-Maliki, the coalition spokesman, stated in a statement that this was the second attempt by the Houthis to target Mecca.
The coalition noted that approximately 9 years ago, a ballistic missile had also been fired towards Mecca.

ائتلاف به رهبری عربستان سعودی در یمن اعلام کرد پدافند هوایی این ائتلاف یک فروند پهپاد پرتابشده از سوی حوثیها را که قصد ورود به حریم هوایی مکه را داشت، رهگیری و منهدم کرده است.
به گزارش خبرگزاری رویترز، ترکی المالکی، سخنگوی ائتلاف، در بیانیهای گفت این دومین تلاش حوثیها برای هدف قرار دادن مکه بوده است.
به گفته ائتلاف، پیش از این نیز حدود ۹ سال قبل یک فروند موشک بالستیک به سوی مکه شلیک شده بود.
