Donald Trump, the President of the United States, said on Friday, September 18, in a conversation with reporters at the White House that preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons is something he is "very proud" of, and that Iran will no longer have nuclear weapons.
Trump, referring to the rising fuel costs, stated that achieving this goal may require people to pay more for a while.
He added, "If people could vote between lower gasoline prices and allowing Iran to have nuclear weapons, I think the result would be overwhelmingly clear. People do not want Iran to have nuclear weapons."
The President of the United States also expressed his expectation that the war with Iran would "end soon" and predicted that after the war ends, gasoline prices would return to pre-conflict levels and "maybe even go lower."

دونالد ترامپ، رئیس‌جمهوری آمریکا، روز جمعه ۲۷ شهریور در گفتگو با خبرنگاران در کاخ سفید گفت جلوگیری از دستیابی ایران به سلاح هسته‌ای موضوعی است که به آن «بسیار افتخار» می‌کند و ایران دیگر سلاح هسته‌ای نخواهد داشت.
ترامپ با اشاره به افزایش هزینه سوخت گفت تحقق این هدف ممکن است مستلزم آن باشد که مردم برای مدتی هزینه بیشتری بپردازند.
او افزود: «اگر مردم می‌توانستند بین قیمت پایین‌تر بنزین و اجازه دادن به ایران برای داشتن سلاح هسته‌ای رأی بدهند، فکر می‌کنم نتیجه با اختلاف بسیار زیادی روشن بود. مردم نمی‌خواهند ایران سلاح هسته‌ای داشته باشد.»
رئیس‌جمهوری آمریکا همچنین گفت انتظار دارد جنگ با ایران «به‌زودی» پایان یابد و پیش‌بینی کرد پس از پایان جنگ، قیمت بنزین به سطح پیش از درگیری بازگردد و «شاید حتی پایین‌تر» برود.
