Abbas Araghchi, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in a video message addressed to participants at the "Global Dialogue Forum 2026" hosted by the Indonesian Foreign Policy Community on Saturday, September 28, criticized the interventionist approaches in the Middle East, emphasizing that decades of military presence and pressure have not only failed to contribute to stability but have also created an endless cycle of tension.
Araghchi stated that the roots of regional crises must be sought in a bitter truth; years of foreign intervention, comprehensive military pressures, and successive conflicts have proven that military intervention does not create security, and that coercion and bullying never lead to peace.
In the continuation of this video speech, Araghchi noted that in the current circumstances, war has become, instead of being the last resort, a common tool in international relations. This approach has resulted in nothing but the normalization of violence and the continuation of a pattern of ongoing conflict and confrontation in the region.
