The aircraft that was shot down by the Islamic Republic of Iran's army near the Strait of Hormuz was an American decoy missile, the ADM-160, which was mistakenly thought to be the Orbiter drone. The U.S. is using the MALD missile to seek out the locations of Iranian defense systems.

هواگردی که توسط ارتش جمهوری اسلامی ایران در نزدیکی تنگه هرمز ساقط شده بود یک موشک فریب آمریکایی ADM-160 بوده است که به اشتباه پهپاد اوربیتر تصور شده بود.
آمریکا با استفاده از موشک MALD به دنبال شناسایی موقعیت سامانه های پدافندی ایرانی است.
