Marco Rubio said he is ready to meet with Iranian officials on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.

The U.S. Secretary of State stated, "I don't think anything is planned at the moment, but we are certainly prepared for such a meeting, especially if the prospect leads to a positive outcome and ultimately achieves the main goal."

Mr. Rubio indicated that by such a prospect, he means "Iran can never have a nuclear weapon."

Abbas Araghchi, the Iranian Foreign Minister, has been in New York since Monday, and Masoud Pezeshkian has also traveled to the city to speak at the General Assembly.

مارکو روبیو گفت آماده ملاقات با مقام‌های ایران در حاشیه نشست مجمع عمومی سازمان ملل در نیویورک است.

وزیر خارجه آمریکا گفت: «فکر نمی‌کنم در حال حاضر چیزی برنامه‌ریزی شده باشد، اما قطعاً برای چنین دیداری آمادگی داریم، به‌ویژه اگر چشم‌انداز آن نتیجه‌ای مثبت و در نهایت تحقق هدف اصلی باشد.»

آقای روبیو گفت منظور او از چنین چشم اندازی این است که «ایران هرگز نمی‌تواند سلاح هسته‌ای داشته باشد.»

عباس عراقچی، وزیر خارجه ایران از دوشنبه در نیویورک است و مسعود پزشکان هم عازم این شهر شده است تا در مجمع عمومی سخنرانی کند.

دونالد ترامپ دو روز پیش به شبکه فاکس گفته بود که آماده دیدار با مسعود پزشکیان است.
