Donald Trump, the President of the United States, announced on Tuesday, September 31, that Steve Witkoff, the U.S. special envoy, and Jared Kushner, his son-in-law, met for three hours with members of the Islamic Republic's delegation on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.

Trump, speaking to reporters during a meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, said the meeting "went very well" and added that another meeting between the two sides would take place in the "very near future."

Regarding the possibility of an agreement with the Islamic Republic, Trump said, "I can't imagine why they wouldn't want to agree. Their choice is either reaching their potential greatness or destruction."

Steve Witkoff also initially refrained from commenting when asked about his assessment of the meeting, but then said, "I feel very good about it right now."

ترامپ که در دیدار با ولودیمیر زلنسکی، رییس‌جمهوری اوکراین، با خبرنگاران صحبت می‌کرد، گفت این دیدار «خیلی خوب پیش رفت» و افزود نشست دیگری میان دو طرف در «آینده بسیار نزدیک» برگزار خواهد شد.

ترامپ درباره احتمال توافق با جمهوری اسلامی گفت: «نمی‌توانم تصور کنم چرا آنها نخواهند توافق کنند. انتخاب آنها یا رسیدن به عظمت بالقوه است یا نابودی.»

استیو ویتکاف نیز در پاسخ به پرسشی درباره ارزیابی خود از این دیدار، ابتدا از اظهارنظر خودداری کرد اما سپس گفت: «در حال حاضر احساس خیلی خوبی دارم.»
