Marco Rubio, the U.S. Secretary of State, said in an interview with Fox News on Tuesday, October 29, that the Iranian regime does not spend the money it receives on its people, but rather uses it to build weapons and export its revolution.
He referred to Tehran's actions over the past three decades, stating: "The issue is not just about imposing economic costs on this regime. Every dollar that Iran has is at stake. What they have done over the past 30 years is that whenever they have received money, whether through lifting sanctions during the Obama era or through oil and gas sales, they have not spent it on building hospitals, roads, or improving the lives of the Iranian people."
Rubio continued, saying: "They use this money solely for two purposes: to build weapons for themselves and to export the revolution. They use these financial resources to fund Hezbollah, Hamas, and Shiite militias in Iraq. They spend this money to finance terrorism and assassination plots around the world, and therefore every penny that comes into their hands is money used for the purposes of these destructive activities."

Marco Rubio, in an interview with Fox News, emphasized that Iran should not be equated with its current government, stating: "People often make the mistake of considering Iran as equivalent to a normal country. Yes, Iran is a country, but our problem is not the country of Iran; the problem is the revolution and the system that governs that country."

He pointed out that the officials of the Islamic Republic who appear in the media under diplomatic covers are "radical clerics with apocalyptic views who believe their religious mission is to shape the end days of the world."

Rubio also warned that such a regime obtaining nuclear weapons would pose an unacceptable risk to the world, as they would use it for extortion and killing.

مارکو روبیو، وزیر امور خارجه ایالات متحده، روز سه‌شنبه هفتم مهر در گفتگو با شبکه فاکس‌نیوز گفت رژیم ایران پولی را که به دستش می‌رسد خرج مردم نمی‌کند، بلکه آن را صرف ساخت تسلیحات و صدور انقلاب می‌کند.
او با اشاره به عملکرد تهران طی سه دهه گذشته افزود: «مسئله صرفا تحمیل هزینه‌های اقتصادی بر این رژیم نیست. پای هر دلاری که ایران در اختیار دارد در میان است. آنچه آن‌ها در ۳۰ سال گذشته انجام داده‌اند این است که هر زمان پولی به دستشان رسیده، چه در چارچوب رفع تحریم‌ها در دوره اوباما و چه از مسیر فروش نفت و گاز، آن را برای ساخت بیمارستان، جاده یا بهبود زندگی مردم ایران خرج نکرده‌اند.»
روبیو در ادامه گفت: «آن‌ها این پول را تنها برای دو هدف استفاده می‌کنند: ساخت تسلیحات برای خودشان و صدور انقلاب. آن‌ها این منابع مالی را برای تامین مالی حزب‌الله، حماس و شبه‌نظامیان شیعه در عراق به کار می‌گیرند. آن‌ها این پول را برای حمایت مالی از تروریسم و طرح‌های ترور در سراسر جهان خرج می‌کنند و بنابراین هر پنی که به دستشان می‌رسد، پولی است که برای مقاصد این فعالیت‌های مخرب استفاده می‌شود.»

مارکو روبیو، در گفتگو با شبکه «فاکس نیوز» با تاکید بر اینکه نباید ایران را با حکومت فعلی آن یکی دانست، گفت: «مردم اغلب این اشتباه را می‌کنند که ایران را معادل یک کشور عادی می‌دانند. بله، ایران یک کشور است، اما مشکل ما کشور ایران نیست؛ مشکل، انقلاب و سیستمی است که بر آن کشور حکومت می‌کند.»

او با اشاره به مقامات جمهوری اسلامی که با پوشش‌های دیپلماتیک در رسانه‌ها ظاهر می‌شوند، افزود: «کسانی که در ایران تصمیم‌گیرنده هستند، روحانیون تندرویی با دیدگاه‌های آخرالزمانی‌اند که باور دارند رسالت دینی‌شان رقم زدن روزهای پایانی جهان است.»

روبیو همچنین هشدار داد که دستیابی چنین رژیمی به سلاح هسته‌ای، یک خطر غیرقابل‌قبول برای جهان خواهد بود، چرا که از آن برای باج‌گیری و کشتار استفاده خواهند کرد.
