Vance: Iran Made a Mistake by Violating the Islamabad Agreement

JD Vance, the Deputy President of the United States, in an interview with Vincent Coglianese, a conservative American podcaster and journalist, held the officials of the Islamic Republic responsible for the collapse of the Islamabad agreement, stating that they made a mistake by targeting commercial ships in the region's waters.

Vance added: "I think the Iranians have realized they made a mistake. They signed an agreement with us, a ceasefire was established, energy prices dropped, and there was a possibility that if the Iranians had fulfilled their commitments, they could have gained a lot from improved relations with the U.S."

He also referred to the ambiguities regarding the status of Mojtaba Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Republic, saying that Washington does not know for certain whether he is alive or not, but existing evidence suggests that he is still alive. Vance continued: "We believe he is alive. Of course, we don't know for sure. I have never seen him. I also haven't seen a recent image of him in front of a camera."

ونس: ایران با نقض تفاهم‌نامه اسلام‌آباد مرتکب اشتباه شد

جی‌دی ونس، معاون رییس‌جمهوری ایالات متحده، در مصاحبه با وینسنت کُگلیانیز، پادکست‌ساز و روزنامه‌نگار محافظه‌کار آمریکایی، مقام‌های جمهوری اسلامی را مسئول فروپاشی تفاهم‌نامه اسلام‌آباد معرفی کرد و گفت آن‌ها با هدف قرار دادن کشتی‌های تجاری در آب‌های منطقه مرتکب اشتباه شدند.

ونس افزود: «فکر می‌کنم ایرانی‌ها متوجه شده‌اند که اشتباه کردند. آن‌ها با ما توافقی امضا کردند، آتش‌بس برقرار شد، قیمت انرژی کاهش یافت و این امکان وجود داشت که اگر ایرانی‌ها به تعهدات خود عمل می‌کردند، از بهبود روابط با آمریکا منافع زیادی به دست آورند.»

او همچنین به ابهام‌ها درباره وضعیت مجتبی خامنه‌ای، رهبر جمهوری اسلامی، اشاره کرد و گفت واشینگتن با قطعیت نمی‌داند که او زنده است یا نه، اما شواهد موجود نشان می‌دهد که همچنان در قید حیات است.
ونس ادامه داد: «ما فکر می‌کنیم او زنده است. البته با قطعیت نمی‌دانیم. من هرگز او را ندیده‌ام. اخیرا هم تصویری از او در مقابل دوربین ندیده‌ام.»
