The trend of the decline in the value of Iran's national currency continued on Saturday, October 2, with the price of the US dollar in the free market surpassing 270,000 tomans for the first time.

According to the rates announced on Saturday afternoon, the selling price of the dollar reached about 271,000 tomans and the euro exceeded 305,000 tomans.

This comes as the price of the dollar in the free market was reported to be around 258,000 tomans on Thursday; thus, the price of the dollar increased by more than 13,000 tomans, equivalent to about five percent, in just two days.

The rise in foreign currency prices continues while the Central Bank of the Islamic Republic announced on Wednesday plans to supply two billion dollars in cash to the market.

The judiciary has also reported on taking action against channels and pages that it calls the cause of "false currency pricing."

Iran's economy is simultaneously under pressure from the war with the United States, sanctions, and increasing restrictions on foreign trade due to the maritime blockade.

The value of Iran's national currency has decreased by more than 31 percent since July 14, when the US maritime blockade against Iran began.
