Scott Basset, the U.S. Secretary of the Treasury, posted a message on X with a sarcastic tone regarding the resignation of Mohsen Paknejad, Iran's Minister of Oil, stating: "Iran has a new Minister of Oil. Given that not a single barrel of crude oil has been loaded by Iran on any vessel since August 25, what exactly is this Minister of Oil managing?" Previously, Mehdi Tabatabai, the Deputy for Communications and Information at the Iranian Presidency, announced that after agreeing to the resignation of the Minister of Oil, President Raisi appointed Hamid Bourd, the CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company, as the caretaker of the Ministry of Oil.

اسکات بسنت، وزیر خزانه‌داری ایالات متحده آمریکا، با انتشار پیامی در اکس و با لحنی کنایه‌آمیز نسبت به استعفای محسن پاک‌نژاد، وزیر نفت ایران نوشت: «ایران وزیر نفت جدیدی دارد. با توجه به اینکه از ۲۵ اوت تاکنون حتی یک بشکه نفت خام نیز توسط ایران بر روی هیچ شناوری بارگیری نشده است، این وزیر نفت دقیقا چه چیزی را مدیریت می‌کند؟» پیش از این، مهدی طباطبایی، معاون ارتباطات و اطلاع‌رسانی دفتر ریاست جمهوری ایران اعلام کرد، پزشکیان پس از موافقیت با استعفای وزیر نفت، طی حکمی حمید بورد، مدیرعامل شرکت ملی نفت ایران را به عنوان سرپرست وزارت نفت منصوب کرده است.
