In a recent statement released on Tuesday, October 13, Amnesty International emphasized that the Islamic Republic uses the death penalty as a tool to "raise the cost of protest... and intimidate" the people.
The human rights organization cited the execution of five protesters in early January 2025 within just one week as evidence of this claim.
The judiciary of the Islamic Republic announced the execution of these five young protesters from October 8 to 13: Ali Hemmati Sistani and Majid Nikandish were executed in Mashhad, Siavash Jamshidi Kheirabadi was executed in Shahrekord, and Alireza Sepahi and Alireza Reisi were hanged in the city of Isfahan.

سازمان عفو بین‌الملل در بیانیه‌ای تازه که روز سه‌شنبه، ۲۱ مهرماه، منتشر شد تأکید کرد که جمهوری اسلامی از مجازات اعدام به عنوان ابزاری برای «بالا بردن هزینه اعتراض... و ارعاب» مردم استفاده می‌کند.
این سازمان حقوق بشری در بیانیه خود از اعدام پنج معترض دی‌ماه ۱۴۰۴ تنها در عرض یک هفته به عنوان گواهی برای این مدعا یاد کرده است.
قوه قضاییه جمهوری اسلامی از هشتم تا ۱۳ مهرماه جاری از اعدام این پنج جوان معترض خبر داد: علی همتی سیستانی و مجید نیک‌اندیش در مشهد اعدام شدند، سیاوش جمشیدی خیرآبادی در شهرکرد اعدام شد، و علیرضا سپاهی و علیرضا رئیسی که در شهر اصفهان به دار آویخته شدند.
