The spokesperson for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps stated that the attack on three oil tankers on July 5, 2025, was not "autonomous."
Hossein Mohibi emphasized that the attack on the vessels that this organization refers to as "violators" was carried out after the signing of the Islamabad agreement and in coordination with higher officials. He described these attacks as a "decisive response" to what he called the third breach of the U.S. commitment.

Hossein Bastani:
After a long period of speculation in media circles regarding the origin of the attacks on July 6 against three commercial ships during a temporary ceasefire, Hossein Mohibi, the spokesperson for the IRGC, stated: "The attack on the violating ships was neither an autonomous action nor conducted without coordination with higher officials."
Given the recent acknowledgment by the IRGC spokesperson of the attack on three ships being "in coordination with higher officials," it would be appropriate to recall part of the article from September 12:
"The central argument of the hypothesis that the attacks on July 6 were 'fire-at-will' is the support of official figures in the Islamic Republic for the continuation of the ceasefire. In this hypothesis, the defense by figures such as Masoud Pezeshkian and Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf of the Islamabad agreement is cited as evidence of the 'Iranian government's' opposition to the resumption of conflict in the Strait of Hormuz. However, citing statements of this nature to explain the positions of the 'system' means ignoring the actual power structure in the Islamic Republic of Iran, where the main decision-maker is not individuals such as the President or the Speaker of Parliament, but what is referred to as the 'leadership institution'... Regardless of whether the decision-makers, executors, and supporters of the three attacks later achieved the results they anticipated, it is clear that what occurred on July 6 was not 'fire-at-will.'"
