The spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry of the Islamic Republic announced on Saturday, October 25, following reports about the suspension of commercial activities at a border crossing between Iran and Pakistan, that "border traffic and exchanges between Iran and Pakistan have been temporarily halted."

Ismail Baqaei, without providing further details, cited "technical problems and the need for precautionary measures" as the reason for this occurrence.

Disruptions in land trade between Iran and Pakistan are reported at a time when the U.S. Treasury Department recently issued a new warning regarding the continued cooperation of foreign financial institutions with sanctioned Iranian banks and financial entities.

The spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry promised that the issue at the border crossings would be resolved "as soon as possible" after consultations between Iranian and Pakistani officials.

The Islamic Republic's IRIB news agency reported on Saturday, citing Seyyed Hossein Hosseini, the director general of the Transit Office of the Road Maintenance Organization, that the Pakistani side has closed the Rimdan-Gabd border crossing in the Sistan and Baluchestan province.

This Iranian official emphasized that passenger traffic through this crossing remains open and discussions to resolve the issue and reopen the border are ongoing.
