Farzad Kalbali, a visiting professor at the Faculty of Law and Political Science at the University of Tehran, has been banned from teaching at the university and is also not allowed to enter the campus; the Basij of the Faculty of Law claims that this ban has been enforced due to the efforts of this organization.
The Telegram channel "United Students" reported that Kalbali's classes were taken from him due to his support for students. According to this report, the Basij of the Faculty of Law and Political Science, while welcoming the removal of this instructor, has also threatened other professors and students, stating that it will not allow the university to return to the conditions prior to March 1.
Hamshahri Online also accused him of using "offensive and subversive" phrases in the media, emphasizing that this instructor has never been officially employed by the University of Tehran. The report of Kalbali's ban from teaching comes at a time when Rajanews had previously published an article against him, calling for the Ministry of Science to take action against this instructor. This media outlet claimed that efforts had been made to remove Kalbali during the tenure of the Ministry of Science under President Ebrahim Raisi, but he returned to the classroom after the appointment of Hossein Simayi Sarraf in the government of Masoud Pezeshkian.
Rajanews also described Kalbali's classes as a place for "activities against the regime" and "insulting the martyrs," accusing the management of the Faculty of Law and Political Science of politically targeting professors who support the government without providing any evidence in the quoted text. In statements published from him in the program "War Table and the Iran Issue," he emphasized his structural critiques of the ruling system while opposing military attacks by Israel on Iran. According to him, he does not see the goal of these attacks as the freedom of the people or a transition to democracy, believing that the Iranian people are the main victims. He also described the disintegration of Iran and the expansion of the strategic depth of the U.S. and Israel as objectives of these attacks.
