Sergey Lavrov, the Foreign Minister of Russia, met with Abbas Araghchi, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, on Monday, October 19, just hours after arriving in Tehran.

Lavrov's trip to Tehran comes as the Wall Street Journal reported earlier that Putin has called for a meeting with Xi Jinping and Donald Trump, the Presidents of China and the United States.

On Sunday, Lavrov had met with the foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council member countries in Manama.

In a joint press conference with his Russian counterpart in Tehran, Abbas Araghchi stated that the war and maritime blockade against Iran are factors of "insecurity" in the Strait of Hormuz and the Middle East region. He called for the withdrawal of the U.S. from the Middle East and said that Tehran welcomes any initiative that leads to "endogenous security and collective security arrangements in the region, without the presence of foreign forces."
Sergey Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister visiting Tehran, stated in this press conference that Russia seeks stability in the energy market and is not interested in price fluctuations.

سرگئی لاوروف، وزیر امور خارجهٔ روسیه، روز دوشنبه ۲۷ مهر ماه و ساعاتی پس از ورود به تهران، با عباس عراقچی، وزیر امور خارجهٔ جمهوری اسلامی ایران، دیدار کرد.

سفر لاوروف به تهران در حالی انجام می‌شود که روزنامهٔ وال‌استریت ژورنال ساعاتی پیش اعلام کرده بود پوتین خواهان برگزاری نشستی با شی جین‌پینگ و دونالد ترامپ، رؤسای جمهوری چین و آمریکا، شده است.

لاوروف روز یکشنبه در منامه با وزیران امور خارجهٔ کشورهای عضو شورای همکاری خلیج فارس دیدار کرده بود.

عباس عراقچی در کنفرانس خبری مشترک با همتای روس خود در تهران اعلام کرد جنگ و محاصره دریایی علیه ایران عامل «ناامنی» در تنگه هرمز و منطقه خاورمیانه است.
او در این نشست خبری خواستار خروج آمریکا از خاورمیانه شد و گفت تهران از هر ابتکاری که منجر به «امنیت درون‌زا و امنیت دسته‌جمعی کشورها و ترتیبات دسته‌جمعی امنیت در منطقه، بدون حضور نیروهای خارجی شود» استقبال می‌کند.
سرگئی لاوروف، وزیر امور خارجه روسیه، که به تهران سفر کرده، در این کنفرانس خبری گفت که روسیه خواهان ثبات در بازار انرژی است و به نوسات قیمت‌ها علاقه‌ای ندارد.
