Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, made a rare comment on Wednesday, October 28, regarding the protests that took place in Iran last December, claiming that these protests began on social media.
According to the Russian news agency Interfax, Putin stated during a visit to an exhibition in Moscow: "What happened when the crisis spread in the streets of Tehran largely started through social media; networks that the Iranian authorities neither managed nor controlled."
The Russian President said the only thing the Iranian authorities could do was to "cut everything off."
