FBI Identifies North Korea as Responsible for $6.3 Billion Theft from Binance Exchange
According to Reuters, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced early Sunday, November 1, that North Korea is responsible for the theft of billions of dollars in digital assets from the Binance exchange. This agency stated that the perpetrators of the attack have begun laundering the stolen assets by converting them into Ethereum, and this process is expected to continue.
The value of this theft is reported to be around $6.3 billion. Binance has stated that it will compensate all customer losses from company resources and is working with its partners to block the stolen assets.
The FBI had previously identified North Korean hackers as responsible for the theft of approximately $1.5 billion from the "Bybit" exchange in March 2024; an attack that the agency attributed to a cyber activity known as "TraderTraitor."
