Five more detainees from the protests of December 2024, named Shahab Zahdi, Amirreza Rezaei, Vahid Ghahramani, Omran Amani, and a cleric named Mehdi whose last name is not specified, have been sentenced to death. At the same time, the death sentence of Mohammad Nadri, a political prisoner, was also confirmed by the Supreme Court.
The Harana website reported on Friday, November 8, that Shahab Zahdi, one of the detainees from the December 2024 protests, has been sentenced to death for the second time by Branch 15 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Abolqasem Salavati.
Zahdi's death sentence was overturned in Mordad by Branch 9 of the Supreme Court, and his case was referred back to the Revolutionary Court in Tehran for reconsideration. Zahdi, who is currently in Qazalhasar Prison in Karaj, was arrested in connection with the case of the fire at the Basij base "185 Mahmoud Kaveh" in eastern Tehran. Four other defendants in this case, Mohammad Amin Beiglari, Shahin Vahidparast Kalor, Amir Hossein Hatami, and Ali Fahim, were executed in Farvardin 1405.
In another report, Harana announced that Branch 23 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court has sentenced Amirreza Rezaei, Vahid Ghahramani, and a cleric named Mehdi to death on charges including "operational actions for Israel." These sentences were communicated to them in prison on November 4.
Mehdi, a cleric and former member of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, has also been sentenced to death in a separate case on charges of "apostasy" by the Special Court for Clergy, resulting in a total of two death sentences against him. These three political prisoners, who were arrested separately during the December 2024 protests, were transferred from Greater Tehran Prison to Qazalhasar Prison on November 6. Qazalhasar Prison in Karaj is one of the main centers for carrying out death sentences in Iran, and the death sentences of several political prisoners have also been executed there.
